MIBR will compete in the American division of ESL Pro League Season 11 as they try to qualify for ES
MIBR will compete in the American division of ESL Pro League Season 11 as they try to qualify for ESL One Cologne, it has been announced.
The Brazilian giants are the sixth team confirmed for the North American division but will still compete in Flashpoint, HLTV.org has confirmed.
On Twitter, MIBR justified the decision with the need to garner points in the ESL Pro Tour ranking to be able to qualify for the next Masters Championship event, ESL One Cologne. MIBR criticized the ranking, which they described as "harmful to fans, the community and the ecosystem at large", and called for an overhaul of the system so that "teams in all leagues have an equal chance of qualifying for the circuit events."
MIBR are currently in 19th place in the ESL Pro Tour ranking with 120 points. As things stand, they are not eligible for an invite to the $1 million event and may not even get a spot at the LAN qualifier.
The Brazilians had dropped out of Pro League after Season 10 to join Flashpoint as one of the founding members. They are currently in the Group A's consolidation final in Stage 1 following a loss to Chaos and a victory over Envy in their first two matches.
Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's side will be able to compete in both leagues after they were moved to an online setting because of the coronavirus outbreak. The North American division of ESL Pro League will kick off on March 26, while Flashpoint Phase 2 is scheduled to start one day later.
